Kamusta!

Greetings family, friends, and prospective foreign students who wish to live and study in the Philippines. Welcome to my blog! Please note that this is my first time blogging so please bare with me. As I progress, I’m sure I will get better.

In this website blog, I will attempt to document all my experiences while living, traveling, and studying for Bachelor of Science in Nursing the Republic of the Philippine on a budget for the next 4 years! Yes, 4 years! This will be a learning experience of life time for me shifting from first world country to the third world country.

What you read about in this blog and see in videos is real and never embellished to make the videos or postings look good or appealing to the masses.  I don’t sugarcoat anything. Some days are boring and some are exciting, because that’s how life goes.

Who I am: My name is Kuya Alex, 26 year old Asian American who will be living and studying in San Carlos City, Pangasinan. It is located in Northern Luzon of the Philippines, which is about 200km north of Manila. Coming from the Golden State of California, I know this would be a major step. Culture shock for me as a foreigner in a foreign land for sure. After working many years as a Certified Nursing Assistant in nursing homes and hospitals, as a private nurse, and being self-employed; I decided to take a leap of faith. I decided to achieve my Bachelor of Science in Nursing in the Philippines after studying Vocational Nursing to pursue my dream of being a Certified Nurse Anesthetist. As a student trying to enroll in a 4-year nursing program in California, we all know it is very difficult to get accepted due to the fact that waiting list for the nursing programs are very impacted and up to 5 years of wait time. Unfortunately, I don’t have that time. I knew the only solution for me to move up the nursing profession rather than waiting was to go across the other side of the globe. I landed in the Republic of the Philippines.
